The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Friday that his inauguration speech next Monday, as well as other events of his inauguration, will be held inside the Capitol, instead of on the outside steps, due to the casualties temperatures expected that day.
“I have ordered that the inaugural address, along with prayers and other speeches, be held in the rotunda of the United States Capitol, as Ronald Reagan did in 1985, also because of the extremely cold weather,” Trump wrote on his social network, Social Truth.
Former US President Ronald Reagan (1981-1989) had to take the oath of office inside the Capitol, at the beginning of his second term in 1985, due to similar weather conditions.
