The former president of Bolivia, Evo Moraleswas ordered arrested by a Bolivian judge after failing to attend a hearing on a sexual abuse case. Morales is a defendant in a case of rape of a minor in 2016. The teenager would have had a daughter with the former president and would have been trafficked by her own parents to Morales, in search of financial benefits and political advancement.
The former president has denied the accusation for years, stating that the facts were already investigated in 2020. The current accusation, however, would focus on the trafficking of minors that allegedly took place, with the consent and support of the teenager’s family. According to the prosecutor’s office, the minor’s parents had enrolled her in Morales’ “juvenile custody.”

This is the third arrest order issued against Evo for the same case. The prosecutor had already ordered his arrest in September, but a judicial appeal filed by the former president’s defense managed to annul it. Another order was issued in October and released in December last year.
The December arrest warrant was issued after Evo disobeyed an order to testify in the case.
