The government publishes this Monday (20) an ordinance with the selection of 26 thousand units for contracting within the scope of aimed at meeting cases of unforeseen worsening of housing demand due to the growth of agribusiness and lack of planning.
The ordinance was signed this Friday (17) by the minister (Cities). The homes will be in 391 municipalities, 243 of which are not yet covered by the . The units cover 24 units of the federation —Amazonas, Espírito Santo and Rondônia did not present proposals.
The units were selected in municipalities that met some criteria for increasing demand for housing. One of them was to have registered, in recent years, unusual housing growth due to the expansion of agribusiness, as is the case in Mato Grosso, Tocantins, southern Pará and Maranhão where agribusiness has advanced.
Another parameter used was to cover locations where population growth is linked to some other external factor, such as the case of Maceió (AL), with Braskem. At the end of 2023, leaving 14,500 properties condemned and more than 40,000 people relocated.
