Whether for a family vacation, a weekend with friends or even a romantic getaway, traveling is always a good option. Even though the dream destinations of many Portuguese people are not within everyone’s budget, there are always cities very close by that may have everything you are looking for. If you like sun, parties, visiting monuments and gastronomy, this Spanish city less than a two-hour drive from the Algarve could be your solution for a different weekend plan.
Many of those who live in the Algarve have certainly already visited Seville. The Spanish city is just a two-hour drive from the Algarve, but it is also not far for those coming from Lisbon or Porto. The airports that serve the two largest Portuguese cities have several air connections to the capital of Andalusia and the prices for round trips may not even reach 50 euros, depending on the date on which you book your flight.
Furthermore, the heat felt in the summer months in Seville keeps many tourists away, so even in the so-called high season, flight and accommodation prices remain affordable. Once in Seville, the river will be one of the first things you encounter in the city center. It’s the Guadalquivir River and, if you want to get to know it better, you can always take one of the boat trips offered by different companies.
In the city, as the blog states, Plaza de España is one of the must-visit places and, very close by, you can’t miss a walk in Parque de María Luisa. Then, the old Jewish neighborhood of Santa Cruz, with its narrow streets and orange trees dotting the landscape, is also one of the main points of interest in the city.
If you still have time, include in your itinerary a visit to Giralda, the Muslim minaret transformed into the bell tower of the Gothic cathedral and where the tomb of Christopher Columbus is located. The Alcázar is also worth a visit.
