The new Faro Beach Bridge was officially inaugurated this Sunday, in a ceremony that brought together local authorities, regional representatives and hundreds of people. The new structure replaces the old bridge, marking the beginning of a new era in access to , one of the most visited swimming destinations in the Algarve.
With a total cost of 8.5 million euros, the bridge was designed to meet the needs of growing tourist demand and improve the quality of life of residents. The new infrastructure features two traffic lanes, dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists and sustainable lighting, promoting safety and respect for the environment.
The new bridge was designed to reduce frequent congestion, especially during the summer months, and includes environmental protection elements to minimize the impact on the Ria Formosa, one of the most important protected areas in the country.
Residents and tourists were excited about the completion of the work. “It was something we had been waiting for for a long time. This bridge will make a huge difference in our daily lives”, said Ana Silva, a resident of Faro.
João Mendes, a regular visitor to the region, highlighted: “With easier access, Praia de Faro gains even more prominence as one of the best destinations in the Algarve.”
