Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová (35) she was known as a journalist for many years, but last year she decided to run for the European Parliament for the Progressive Slovakia (PS) party. The wife of the presenter Matej “Sajfu” Cifru (45) also had a great influence on social networks, where she collaborated with various brands. She lost them by entering politics, but in an interview she admitted that she knows of at least one case when her partner also lost cooperation.
“I think he lost some ‘jobs.’ We never called it something at home, but I know that at least once he already received a response from the company for which he was supposed to do something. It was also planned that he would do it, because these are actions that are planned months in advance, this was even more, so he was allegedly told that since he is the husband of a politician from the PS and a member of the European Parliament, they will choose some other moderator. So I know for sure about one time” said Veronika. He still doesn’t know if the problem was that he was from the PS or politics as such.
“I’ll tell you honestly that I’d rather not get into it that much. It is a private company, it can choose. Whether it was because of that or because of… I understand that people are careful, I feel sorry for him because his job is his job and my job is my job. But then again, it is completely understandable that someone quite clearly associates him with a view of the world that is similar to mine, since I am his wife. It was probably about the fact that they didn’t want any shade there,” she added.
Since being elected to the European Parliament, the couple is also facing questions about whether the family will move to Brusselsas the mother of two children – daughter Sára and son Šimon – spends quite a lot of time there. For now, Cifrovci operate in a mode that had to adapt to Veronika’s time-consuming work, as well as to Matej’s moderating. As parents, they have to find ways to set up some kind of functioning model and be together as much as possible. Whether they will move to Brussels is probably still in the stars.
