Francisco says that “currently, there is a very unpleasant situation regarding investments”
This Saturday, Pope Francis criticized countries that invest in the arms industry, considering the situation “madness”, because, he warned, “it does not benefit people”.
“Let us not forget that money yields more when it is invested for the benefit of others. This is important”, said the pontiff when receiving members of the Catholic Foundation of Verona, at the Apostolic Palace.
According to the Pope, “currently, there is a very unpleasant situation regarding investments. In some countries, the most profitable investments are weapons factories. Investing in killing is crazy!”
The Argentine pontiff, always very critical of this industry, warned that “this does not benefit the people”.
“Money ages and burdens the heart, hardening it and making it deaf to the voices of the poor. The first thing to be discarded by selfishness are the poor”, he lamented.
Francisco also defended that, when “wealth is placed at the service of human dignity”, by promoting the common good, it improves “society’s ties with all its members”.
