In the message published by the senior Qatari leader through X, he points out that, “as agreed by the parties to the agreement and the mediators, The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will begin at 8:30 AM on Sunday, January 19, Gaza local time. We recommend that residents take precautions, exercise maximum caution and wait for instructions from official sources,” in what has been the most anticipated message by the Gazan population since the war broke out on October 7, 2023.
According to Israeli media, including Haaretz, the vote counted with the ‘ok’ to the truce of 24 ministers and eight against (the Ministers of Security and Finance, as well as two from the Likud party, Netanyahu’s own party).
The conditions announced for the agreement, which will initially last six weeks, will be found in Israel’s prisons, giving priority in both cases to children, women and the elderly.
