Fernando Genauro da Silva is 1st lieutenant of the Military Police; will be sent to the Romão Gomes Prison, in São Paulo
This Saturday (18 January 2025), the Civil Police arrested a military police officer suspected of being the driver of the car used by the shooters in the (First Command of the Capital), at São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, in November 2024. In total, there are already 16 PMs arrested for involvement in the case.
The detained police officer is 1st Lieutenant Fernando Genauro da Silva. He was arrested in Osasco, where he lives.
Fernando was taken to the headquarters of the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection) to give a statement and have his arrest formalized. He will then be taken to the Romão Gomes Prison of the Military Police.
The Military Police Internal Affairs also arrested another 15 military police officers on Thursday (16 January 2025) suspected of involvement in the crime, 14 of which were illegally escorting the victim. One of the prisoners who killed the PCC whistleblower.
Furthermore, on the same day, the DHPP arrested the girlfriend of the suspect identified as the “scout” who resulted in Gritzbach’s death. She is also involved in drug trafficking.
The murder of businessman Vinícius Gritzbach, with rifle shots, was ordered by members of the PCC criminal organization.
According to the SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), active and reserve military personnel and former members of the institution favored members of the PCC, avoiding arrests or financial losses. Among those benefiting from the scheme were faction leaders and even people wanted by the courts. Police officers also provided security for criminals, as was the case with Gritzbach. Some of them provided security for the informer on the day of the murder.
Gritzbach was accused of involvement in money laundering schemes for the faction. In the plea agreement signed with the Public Ministry, the businessman gave the names of people linked to the PCC and also accused police officers of corruption.
