The Bolivian court issued an arrest warrant for ex-president Morales: He is facing several charges!

A Bolivian judge ordered the arrest of former president Evo Morales on Friday. The decision followed after he did not appear for questioning in connection with his possible detention. Morales faces from 2020 to several charges, including sexual abuse of a minor girl. TASR writes about it based on a report by the AFP agency.

Sixty-five-year-old Morales currently being investigated for rape, human trafficking and smugglinga to in connection with an alleged relationship with a 15-year-old girlwith whom he had a daughter in 2016. They already released the ex-president in December a second warrant in the same case. The state prosecutor’s office in Bolivia demands his placement in preventive detention for six months. According to Morales, they are accusations as part of a conspiracy to prevent him from making a political comeback.

Thousands of his followers from mid-October to early November in protest, they blocked several roads in order to prevent his arrest. They also succeeded during the autumn demonstrations hold at least 200 Bolivian soldiers hostage.
