A 29-year-old man reported that civil police invaded, threatened and destroyed his houseon the afternoon of last Tuesday (14), near the Quintas do Amanhecer condominium, in Planaltina, in the Federal District.
Maciel Yuri Araújo Ribeiro, 29 years old, reported that, around 7pm, while his son was playing in the street with other family members, he heard screams and gunshots. Then, children ran into their house, and a man arrived at the gate making death threats.
Maciel tried to protect the children and their mother, but the gate was knocked down and police officers, some in plainclothes, invaded the residence with weapons drawn, ordering everyone to take off their shirts and lie down on the floor.
“I kept saying that my house had a camera, that my house was full of children, asking if they had a warrant, who they were looking for. At no point did they ask us for identification, ask for documents or say who they were looking for, what they wanted”, reported Maciel.
Even after his request, the police would have run out and invaded Maciel’s brother’s house, breaking down doors and ransacking the rooms. After much insistence from residents, the agents simply said that it was all a “mistake”, without giving further explanation.

What Maciel’s defense says
Maciel’s defense, represented by Dr. Patrícia Guimarães, classifies the police action as a case of flagrant abuse of authority and serious violations of the rights of their clients.
According to the lawyer, the agents’ conduct constitutes several crimes and irregularities, including arbitrary home invasion, unnecessary and disproportionate use of force, which included shooting firearms and threats with weapons drawn against children and the elderly, in addition to lack of identification. and non-compliance with police protocols, exposing victims to a climate of terror and uncertainty.
The defense emphasizes that the “misunderstanding” justification demonstrates negligence and total unpreparedness in conducting the operation. “This action was not an isolated error, but reflects a recurring practice that puts the public’s trust in public security institutions at risk,” said the lawyer.
The defense requested an investigation from the Civil Police Internal Affairs, requesting the opening of an administrative investigation, and filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office to ensure the criminal liability of the police officers.
Furthermore, he declared that he is also preparing a legal action against the State, with the aim of obtaining compensation for moral and material damages, to compensate for the psychological trauma, embarrassment and financial losses suffered by the family, and will request an inspection of the residence to document and prove the damage caused by the police invasion.
“They were subjected to a traumatic situation without any explanation or justification, which is unacceptable,” declared the lawyer.
What the Police say
A CNN contacted the Civil Police of the Federal District. According to the 16th DP, the action was triggered by an anonymous tip reporting the presence of three cars with men armed with rifles, one of which contained a hostage with his hands tied. Based on the characteristics of the vehicles described, police officers traveled to Portal do Amanhecer, in Arapoanga.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police saw an armed individual, apparently carrying a pistol. Upon noticing the police team approaching, the suspect fled and entered a residence.
According to the police version, one of the residents of the property reported that the individual had run towards one of the rooms and, voluntarily, authorized the police officers to enter.
Despite searches of the property, the suspect was not found. During the chase, the individual broke into other homes while trying to escape, being followed by the police. However, he managed to escape.
The Civil Police highlighted that the region is known for the activities of a nationwide criminal organization and that, recently, an operation was carried out in the same location against this faction, resulting in the arrest of one of its members, accused of attempted murder and robbery. .
It was reinforced in the note that the entire action was carried out in a transparent, documented manner and in full compliance with current legislation. The corporation denied “any type of illegality or abuse on the part of the police officers involved”. The corporation also stated that actions like this are complex and require quick responses to mitigate risks to life and public order.
The Civil Police stated that the ongoing investigation should clarify the circumstances of the operation and identify possible responsibilities.
