This week, the federal government authorized the sending of the National Force to Porto Velho, in Rondônia, to help with the With this, there are 71 troop operations underway across the country.
The missions, according to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, take place in twelve units of the federation.
The agents are present in Pará, Maranhão, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, Rondônia, Acre, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Amazonas, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District.
These actions include: protection and security on indigenous lands, with an emphasis on the disintrusion of illegally occupied areas; environmental operations, aimed at combating illegal deforestation, hunting wild animals and controlling fires; and border security, with a focus on repressing drug trafficking and other illicit activities.
The list also includes overt operations, aimed at preserving public order in vulnerable regions; humanitarian actions, for assistance in emergency situations; and Judicial Police activities, covering investigation and criminal expertise.
Of all operations, 48 are in indigenous areas, 10 to curb environmental crimes, 8 on borders and 5 in defense of public order.
It is the only city with three fronts of action: indigenous, environmental and public order. On the other hand, Roraima is the state in which the National Force is present in all municipalities.
The main institution supported during the missions is the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, with 28 requests; followed by the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (Funai), with 15.
The National Public Security Force is a Federative Cooperation Program, which means that it only acts in support of other institutions or federated entities, always in a subsidiary, complementary and temporary manner.
To be employed in any region of the country, there must be a formal request from state governors, the Federal District or state ministers, as provided for in the laws that regulate this activity.
