Fluminense: o que é miocardite, doença de Ganso? O que aconteceu com meia do Flu image

Fluminense midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso does not start the season with his teammates at the Rio club. The player was sidelined due to myocarditis, as announced by the club this Saturday (18/01).

The heart problem was detected during Tricolor’s pre-season exams and the athlete was immediately released from the club’s physical activities, aiming for his recovery.

— Fluminense FC informs that midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso was diagnosed with a small myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle), during the team’s pre-season exams. Without any symptoms, the athlete will be away from physical activities as part of the treatment, will be under the care of the club’s medical department and will be examined again in four weeks. If the clinical condition is no longer detected, you can return to training normally. The myocarditis was acquired recently, as it had not been detected in the tests carried out during the six years he has been at Fluminense. The most likely is that it is due to a very strong flu that the athlete had in November. —said the club, in a statement.

Currently, Ganso is one of Fluminense’s main players and a starter in Mano Menezes’ team.

What is myocarditis?

According to the Albert Einstein hospital, myocarditis It is inflammation of the myocardium, the heart muscle, which can result in temporary changes in the heart – and even permanent changes in the most serious cases.

The disease can present in an acute, chronic or fulminant form. Inflammation can compromise the heart’s ability to pump blood, leading to what we call heart failure. In the case of Ganso, it is a light condition.

It is worth remembering that other athletes have already had heart problems. Christian Eriksen and Daley Blind, for example, work with implanted heart defibrillators.

Saulo Mineiro, ex-Ceará, and Soares, ex-Cruzeiro and Fluminense, also had heart disease.
