Winter surprised us again with a rich supply of snow. However, you don’t have to despair over the strenuous snow removal! We bring you a simple but effective trick of our grandmothers, thanks to which you can handle winter maintenance easily and quickly. This proven method will save you time, energy and protect your joints from unnecessary strain.

Magic Candle: The Secret Weapon Against Sticky Snow

Snow removal is one of the most demanding winter duties. Everyone knows that frustrating situation – the snow constantly sticks to the shovel, the work progresses slowly and the fatigue grows. However, our grandmothers knew a simple trick that will make this unpleasant activity much easier. All you need is an ordinary candle from household supplies. Just rub it over the surface of the shovel and the snow will stop sticking immediately. This simple intervention will dramatically reduce the effort of snow removal. The wax layer creates a protective film on the shovel, after which the snow simply slides off. The result is faster and more efficient work without unnecessary resistance and effort.

Kitchen alternatives for a quick solution

Don’t you have a candle at home? No problem! Ordinary cooking oil or petroleum jelly will also work just as well. These common household items can create a protective layer on the surface of the shovel similar to candle wax. You can simply apply the oil with a cloth or practically spray it with a sprayer. Snow will slide like butter on a shovel treated in this way. You will appreciate this trick especially in wet, heavy snow, which tends to stick the most. In addition, the oil is environmentally friendly and will not harm your garden.

Effective solutions for slippery surfaces

In addition to snow removal itself, we also encounter the problem of slippery sidewalks and stairs in winter. Instead of classic salt, there are gentler alternatives. Calcium or magnesium chloride represent a more ecological solution that effectively dissolves ice and snow. If you do not have these means available, ordinary sand or ashes from the fireplace will also work. These natural materials will increase the adhesion of the surface and significantly reduce the risk of slipping.
