Drying clothes without a dryer is quite an adrenaline rush. Especially in winter! But this trick will make your job easier…

Nobody wants to walk around in dirty clothes, so doing laundry is simply a must. Only those who don’t have a dryer have to wait a bit for a load of washed and dried clothes. Drying clothes in the room is a bit of a long elbow and also has side effects… “Every time I dry clothes, I have to ventilate often because it bothers me how humid and musty the air is,” confides reader Jana from Pardubice, who dries her batch clothes in a small block of flats without a balcony. Her friend, who lives in an apartment building for a change, has the same problem and the humid air is a threat to mold. But how to do it differently?

The author of the Organizing TV video shows you how to dry clothes at home. More on the channel YouTube.com.

Dutch drying

If you don’t have a dryer, you have to rely on nature. However, you can still help her a little by, for example, strategically placing laundry near heat sources without having to spend anything on electricity consumption. “It is important to wring and shake the laundry thoroughly before hanging. This will get rid of excess water and speed up drying,” says Mr. Zdeněk, who has been drying laundry using the Dutch method for years. What does it consist of?

Hot water in a bottle

It’s simply a matter of hanging the laundry near a heat source. You can use, for example, a bottle with warm water, which you hang either directly on the dryer or near it,” explains Mr. Zdeněk, adding in one breath that the water temperature does not have to be downright boiling, otherwise the plastic will deform and the entire anabasis will be disturbed. So it is enough if you use hot water, which will still serve your purposes.

More bottles, faster drying

“The laundry will dry faster if you manage to attach the bottles (for example with a string) to the dryer. The heat radiating from it warms the air and thus speeds up the drying process,” says Mr. Zdeněk, adding that if you really want express laundry drying, you need to include more bottles in the game, which will multiply the effect even more.

The need for fresh air

You can also speed up drying by placing the dryer in a strategic location where there is more fresh air circulation. “It makes sense because moist air is heavy and not conducive to your purpose. That’s why it’s good to place the dryer, for example, near a window or a door, where the air “moves” a little,” says Mr. Zdeněk and recommends regular ventilation when drying laundry.

Watch out for water changes

The whole magic of this drying lies in the warm water in the bottles. Therefore, don’t forget to replace the water with fresh and warmer water after a while… If you don’t do it, you can wait for the clothes to dry until hallelujah. And that would be a shame…
