The company will work with Trump on a long-term solution that will keep TikTok in the United States.

Chinese video platform TikTok began resuming its services in the United States on Sunday after a brief outage. It did so after receiving assurances from US President-elect Donald Trump that its service providers in the US would not face penalties. TASR informs about it with reference to the NBC News report.

“We thank President Trump for the necessary assurance to our service providers that they will not face any penalties for providing TikTok to more than 170 million Americans,” TikTok said in a post on the X Network.

The company added that it will work with Trump on a long-term solution that will keep TikTok in the United States.

Just a short time before, Trump announced on his social network Truth Social that on Monday after his inauguration, he would suspend the ban on TikTok in the US by executive order. He spoke out for the service, which is operated by the Chinese company ByteDance, to be half-owned by the US in the future.

Trump said his order would delay implementation of the ban and give the parent company more time to find a buyer. The law allows for a 90-day delay if progress toward an agreement appears imminent.

TikTok ceased operations in the US on Saturday night after the Supreme Court on Friday upheld a law passed by Congress that forced Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell the platform or shut it down by January 19. At the same time, TikTok was removed from the app stores of Google and Apple and others. Access to the platform’s content was only possible through web browsers, NBC said.

Congress passed the law amid concerns that the Chinese government was abusing TikTok to spy on users, which ByteDance denies.
