It is the dream of almost every student: instead of the strict teacher, you fill out your certificate yourself. This is exactly what a 15-year-old computer genius from Cesena in Emilia-Romagna managed to do: According to Italian media reports, the student broke into the databases of the national Ministry of Education and corrected the grades in his digitally stored school reports upwards. He apparently contented himself with minor improvements: He turned a few fives, which mean “unsatisfactory” on the Italian grading scale from one to ten, into a six, which corresponds to “sufficient”. He is also said to have doctored the certificates of some of his friends in this way, the local newspaper reported on Sunday The Corriere di Romagna and the nationally published one The Press.
