We often neglect ventilation grilles in the home, while they play a key role in the quality of the air we breathe. We bring you a simple trick, thanks to which you can clean them without effort and scrubbing. Forget hours of brush work!
The secret weapon from your kitchen
The most effective way to clean the ventilation grill is surprisingly hidden in your kitchen. The dishwasher tablet contains active substances, which can handle even the most stubborn dirt and greasy deposits. For best results, start by removing the grille – usually just unscrewing a few screws. Then prepare the cleaning solution: dissolve one tablet in the dishwasher in two liters of warm water (approximately 40-50°C). Immerse the grid in the prepared solution for 30 minutes. During this time, the active substances penetrate into all the folds and the dirt dissolves on its own. For heavier pollution, you can gently rub with a sponge. This procedure not only perfectly cleans the grid, but also leaves a pleasant, fresh smell in your bathroom or kitchen.
Alternative solutions for every household
Not every household has dishwasher tablets available. Fortunately, there are other effective cleaning methods. Excellent results can be achieved with a mixture of white vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:1. This natural solution effectively removes greasy impurities, limescale and at the same time has an antibacterial effect. In addition, vinegar neutralizes unpleasant odors. For best results, heat the solution to approximately 40°C and leave the grid soaked for 15-20 minutes.
Another proven option is a cleaning paste made of baking soda and dish soap. Mix three tablespoons of baking soda with a little dish soap to make a thick paste. Apply this mixture to the grill and leave it on for 10 minutes. The paste can also handle dried dirt and greasy deposits. For routine maintenance, you can also use wet wipes, which quickly remove surface dirt and dust.
Regular maintenance is the key to success
You should thoroughly clean the ventilation grills every two months. Weekly maintenance should include a quick wipe with a damp cloth and then drying. Regular care prevents permanent pollution and significantly improves the air quality in the home. Clean grids effectively help prevent problems with humidity, which is especially pronounced in the winter. This will also prevent the formation of dangerous molds that can cause health problems, allergies or breathing difficulties.
A solution for fixed grids
If you cannot remove the grid, use a special brush with a long handle or an old toothbrush. Soak it in the prepared solution (either with a dishwasher tablet or vinegar water) and thoroughly clean all available areas. Although this method is more laborious, you will still get satisfactory results. For better access to hard-to-reach places, you can also use a cleaning foam in a spray, which gets into narrow crevices.
