The National Education Development Fund, on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MEC), paid the additional 50% for waterway school transport.
The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, says that the project aims to guarantee the possibility of studying for people who live in places with more complex geographical characteristics, which require the use of water transport.
“With this resource, we are serving students from geographically more complex regions, with more difficult access, with many rivers, and who need to go to school by boat. We are seeking to ensure quality and safe transport so that young people and children can attend school, especially those in the North region”, he revealed.
The state of Acre is among those that benefited from this transfer, receiving around R$2.2 million. Other places that also received were Pará (R$18.7 million), Amazonas (R$9.3 million) and Amapá (R$876 thousand).
