The complaint accuses Tiago Abreu of having conversations with a woman with the aim of getting closer to her minor daughter. The advisor denies the accusations and says he is the victim of a trap.
An anonymous complaint sent to several Lisbon City Council offices accused Tiago Abreupolitical advisor to vice-president Filipe Anacoreta Correia (CDS), of sexual abuse of minors.
The letter described the aide as “cowardly protected by the system” and included a search warrant for his residence.
The suspicions date back to July 2023, when Abreu allegedly had conversations on Instagram with a woman, identified as “Dália”, with the aim of having sex with her minor daughter.
This complaint led the Judiciary Police (PJ) to carry out searches of the advisor’s residence in May 2024, focusing on the seizure of computer material. THE Abreu’s cell phone was collected for expertise and the PC has already forwarded a proposal to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, reports .
Speaking to the CM, Tiago Abreu denied the suspicionsensuring that no evidence of crime was found and that he was not charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The advisor confirmed that was made a defendant and which is subject to an identity and residence term (TIR), the lightest coercive measure. “If I were an abuser and there was even the slightest hint of that, I guarantee that I wouldn’t just have TIR”, he argues.
Abreu also declared that he was victim of a trapexplaining that the suspicious messages came from a fake Instagram profile and regretting the widespread dissemination of the complaint.
Despite having eight months have passed since the searchesAbreu criticized the slowness of the process, saying he had never been present before a judge and was only heard by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at his request.
Tiago Abreu has been a political advisor in Filipe Anacoreta Correia’s office for several years, with a history of activism in the CDS, having run for the chambers of Borba, in 2021, and Elvas, in 2013.
This case is not the first time he has faced legal proceedings, as it was accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife. The case ended in 2022, with Tiago Abreu being acquitted due to lack of evidence.
