The former president and his vice only applauded statements about Israel and space exploration; Republicans celebrated the entire speech
The now former President of the United States Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris did not applaud most of President Donald Trump’s inauguration speech at the Capitol this Monday (Jan. 20, 2025). The Democrats only did so when the Republican addressed the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas and space exploration.
On the other hand, Trump’s guests applauded all of his statements, some standing up. The Republican’s family and cabinet nominees were those who most celebrated the speech.
Just like Biden and Kamala, former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama also did not celebrate Trump’s most ideological speeches. George W. Bush, from the same party as the current president, applauded timidly.
