On Thursday, January 16, Slovaks were shocked by the news of the tragic knife attack on the gymnasium in Spišská Stará Ves, which was allegedly committed by only 18-year-old student Samuel S.. Deputy director Mária († 51) and student Alenka († 18) did not survive the attack. Another student was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. On Sunday, January 19, the specialized criminal court decided to take Samuel into custody.
