For those who live close to the border, it’s still worth going to fuel up in Spain. Even though, in the neighboring country, fuel prices are also rising.
Fuels suffered, this Monday, since 2022.
According to the Automóvel Clube de Portugal (ACP), the price of simple diesel about between 5 and 5.5 cents per liter, for an average value of 1.70 euros per liter.
In turn, the Gasoline costs between 3 and 3.5 cents per liter, becoming 1.78 cents per liter.
But it’s not just in Portugal… In recent weeks, fuel prices has also been climbing in Spain.
Despite this, it continues to pay off cross the border to refuel. According to , the advantage in relation to the values practiced in Portugal, currently reaches between 20 to 30 cents per liter.
The same radio was reporting in Tuion the border with Valença (Viana do Castelo), which receives hundreds of Portuguese people per day to supply.
“We always come here. We came to do other things and fill up with diesel too. It’s much cheaper. And here it is already more expensive because a week and a half, two weeks ago, diesel was 1.39 euros”, said Elisa Dias, from Vila Nova de Cerveira.
In turn, Joana Castro, from Monção, says that never refueled in Portugal: “I like coming to Tui, because It’s much cheaper. I always comesince I got my license. I have never filled up in Portugal.”
“A lot of Portuguese always come, because there is always a big price difference between Spain and Portugal. We know that there will be a big rise in prices there, but for them it is normal for it to be high and to come here”, one of the employees at one of the cheapest gas stations in Tui told TSF.
The same radio reports that, in that location, there are close to 20 stations fuel supply within a radius of around 12 kilometers – and, usually, with rows of cars with Portuguese license plates.
