The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Valencia to the former Minister of Justice and Interior of the Valencian Government Elisa Núñez – a member of Vox when she held the position although she later resigned – for an alleged hate crime.

The Public Ministry investigated her following a complaint from the PSPV-PSOE after Núñez stated that several people of Moroccan origin had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the violent death of a man in (Alicante) and added: Vox “accuses “to the left of endangering our people with their ideological blindness.”

The criminal investigation proceedings were opened for an alleged crime committed during the exercise of fundamental rights and public freedoms, that is, a hate crime, although in the end no evidence was observed that would allow the case to continue.

Later, in a control session in the Valencian Cortes, Núñez stated that they had put in his mouth “words that they would have liked to hear me say and that I have not said; I have never linked a crime with the nationality of an alleged aggressor”, while defending that he had “introduced” a debate on “public policies”

In the letter in which the former councilor communicated – also last July – her decision, one of the reasons she argued for that decision was that she did not share the “radical drift” that the National Executive Committee of Vox had introduced “in the policies against irregular immigration and violence against women.”
