An Italian student doing Erasmus in Portugal complained of having been raped in the early hours of Sunday, near her residence, in the Martim Moniz area, in Lisbon, by “two or three men”, according to the Judiciary Police (PJ).
A source from the PJ told the Lusa agency that the case was reported by the PSP, which received the complaint and took care of the incident, then transferring the case to the PJ for investigation.
The same source confirmed that she was a young Italian woman, whose age was not revealed, studying in Portugal and that after leaving a TVDE vehicle she was attacked while walking to her home, in the Martim Moniz area.
The crime occurred at around 4am in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday – and the attackers fled the scene after the alleged crime.
Another police source told Lusa that the alleged assault and rape occurred in the Health Stairsin the Martim Moniz area.
The young woman was transported to Hospital de São José, in Lisbon, for screening of the situation and for hospital medical assistance.
The PSP’s Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) declined to provide details about this case, claiming that it falls under the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Police.
“Three Moroccans” without description
According to , the complainant assures that the perpetrators of the alleged sexual abuse were “three Moroccans”. However, the complainant did not provide physical or clothing descriptions in great detail.
The CM also said that inspectors from the Lisbon Judicial Police collected evidence at the scene of the alleged rape, this Sunday.
