The next few days will be marked by a debut for Bahia. After carrying out the pre-season in Girona, the tricolor is back in Brazil and is preparing for the duel against Sampaio Corrêa, scheduled for this Thursday (23), at 8 pm, in Fonte Nova, for the Copa do Nordeste. Coach Rogério Ceni, however, may not have a member of the starting lineup.
Defender Gabriel Xavier was injured during training in Spain and became a doubt for the clash. The defender complained of pain in his knee and underwent medical examinations while still on European soil.
Gabriel Xavier did not participate in the training game against Girona’s B team. On that occasion, midfielder Rezende formed the defensive duo alongside Kanu in one of the periods of activity.
Another player who was also left out of the match in Spain was defender David Duarte. He was spared after experiencing muscle discomfort, but is now integrated into the squad.
Among the options for defense, Bahia still has Vitor Hugo. The last signing for the tricolor, Argentine Santiago Ramos Mingo could be available to Ceni if he is regularized.
