Diego Alves’ career

The former goalkeeper started his career at Botafogo-SP and played for Atlético-MG in the Series B, before moving to Spanish football.

There, Diego Alves spent four years at Almería and seven seasons at Valencia. He became the record holder for penalty saves in Spain, even stopping Cristiano Ronaldo.

After a successful spell at Flamengo, Diego Alves returned to Spain in 2023 to play for Celta, but left the club after two months.

For the Brazilian national team, Diego Alves played for the team that participated in the 2008 Olympics and received his first call-up to the main team in August 2010.
