Haas makes history and will have the first female race engineer in Formula 1

German Laura Müller, 33 years old, is the first woman to hold the position of race engineer in the history of Formula 1. The professional works for Haas. The official announcement of the American team took place this Tuesday (21).

Laura has worked on the team since 2022 as a performance engineer, assisting in the technical development and adaptation of simulators.

The professional has a degree in Automotive Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In her career, she has participated in endurance championships, such as the WEC, and categories such as LMP2 and DTM.

The engineer has been carrying out strategic communication with , which debuts this season. The German was already with the driver in the end-of-season tests in December.

The role of race engineer is essential for a racing team. Laura will be responsible for guiding Ocon regarding the pace of his car throughout the races. It will also outline pit stop strategies and make necessary adaptations to weather conditions and incidents in a race.

Among Laura Müller’s responsibilities are analyzing telemetry data and identifying problems, thinking about agile solutions for Haas.
