The government of Mexico is preparing for the impacts already initiated by the government of – yesterday, the White House declared a national emergency in matters of immigration and security for the border strip between the Mexico and the USA. The fear on the Mexican side is that a mass deportation could generate an economic crisis, trigger a process of inflation, increase pressure on national resources and impact the flow of dollar remittances.
Second newspaper Today’s Chroniclebelieved that Mexican citizens in various work situations in North American territory sent at least US$5.4 billion to the country last year. And that a substantial drop in these remittances could even generate an economic crisis.
The newspaper The Universal highlighted that President Claudia Sheinbaum presented this Tuesday (21) the “México Abraça Você” program, through which the federal government will support migrants who are forced to return to the country.
Guidance was also given that employees of the 53 Mexican consulates in the United States provide the necessary support to their citizens.
According to the publication, the strategy involves welcoming nationals at ports of entry and airports and access to government social programs, such as registration in housing programs.
In case of expulsion, each of the migrants deported to Mexico will receive the Bienestar Paisano card, with two thousand pesos available to cover transportation costs to their communities of origin, announced the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.

The government will also make a call center available, with 45 operators, to support citizens in the United States.
When presenting the program, Sheinbaum asked citizens to calm down and that they should await the development of events. “To our compatriots, we say that, firstly, you are not alone and, secondly, that we must also remain calm. We have to see how the process develops during these weeks”, he said.
Regarding the “Remain in Mexico” program, which Trump promises to resume in his second term, the Mexican president declared that Mexico “is not and will not be a third country, in which those seeking to enter the United States requesting asylum can remain as long as their situation is decided. This would create a problem of overcrowding at the border”, he warned.
