São Paulo City Hall, through the Licensing and Urban Planning Secretariat, issued a temporary operating license so that Pacaembu can receive the final
approved a temporary license to hold the final of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, known as , at the iconic Paulo Machado de Carvalho stadium, the . This event is scheduled for January 25th, a special date that coincides with the city’s anniversary. The permit was issued by the Licensing and Urban Planning Department, in partnership with the Fire Department Inspection Report (AVCB), which had already been granted in September of the previous year. With this approval, the Copinha final is officially confirmed to take place at the stadium, which is expected to receive around 20 thousand spectators, a number slightly lower than its total capacity of 26 thousand.
The concessionaire Alegra, responsible for the renovation works at Pacaembu since 2019, expressed confidence in obtaining the necessary licenses for the official reopening of the stadium. Although City Hall treats the permit as temporary, Alegra considers the event as an official reopening. The works faced significant delays, exceeding a year, and some test events were cancelled, including a concert by renowned singer Roberto Carlos.
However, other events were held at the end of last year, especially in December, which reinforced the expectation that the reopening was close. São Paulo City Hall is still awaiting the acceptance of the works, which will serve as confirmation of the completion of the renovation. The mayor’s administration is optimistic that January 25th will be marked by a great event, not only with the Copinha final, but also with other parts of the Sports Complex in full operation.
