Putin sides with Trump on World War III

The formalization of Donald Trump as president of the United States has been welcomed with relative satisfaction by the Kremlin, which sees the magnate’s arrival at the White House as a unique opportunity to satisfy his expansionist desires regarding Ukraine and put an end to a conflict that will be three years old in a few days.

In this sense, and after the Biden administration was completely opposed to any type of negotiation with Russia, like the rest of its European partners, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has celebrated – although with some caution – Trump’s inauguration as a moment to reach agreements to end the armed conflict on Ukrainian soil.

Thus, Putin was satisfied with Donald Trump’s statements regarding his ambitious interest in “avoiding World War III.” These statements were supported by the top Russian president, who made public his commitment to engage in dialogue with Washington regarding war and nuclear weapons.

“We see the statements of the newly elected president of the United States and of the members of his team about the desire to reestablish direct contacts with Russia”, were Putin’s words before Trump’s inauguration ceremony as the new US president.

Furthermore, the Russian leader showed satisfaction with this wish: “We also heard your statement about the need to do everything possible to avoid a Third War World. Of course, we welcome this attitude and congratulate the president-elect of the United States of America on his inauguration.”

These words from Putin occurred within a meeting at the Russian Security Council, and were broadcast live to all citizens of the country. Despite this change in Moscow’s position, dWesterners are skeptical that Russia will will reduce its objectives in Ukraine to achieve lasting peace.

This distrust was conveyed by the British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, who said that for the moment there had been no significant change in its imperialist policies. Furthermore, the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer will head to Washington in the coming weeks to meet with Trump and address all of these issues.

Among them, Russia and Ukraine, Gaza and also Greenland, with the aim of persuading Trump not to send troops to the area, since This could trigger hostilities with Denmark and other European countries.

Neither Moscow nor kyiv give in to their demands

However, when it comes to Ukraine, the Trump administration insists that it is capable of ending the conflict in one day, although once it has come to power, has established that period at 100 days.

What there is no doubt is that Putin and Trump could reach an agreement sooner rather than later, or at least try, and thus being able to resume diplomatic ties destroyed for almost three years as a consequence of the war in Ukraine.

And although this objective could be closer than ever, Moscow has insisted on numerous occasions that in the conversations that may be held from now on, in no case will Russia’s territorial aspirations and claims be negotiated. This, together with kyiv’s absolute refusal to capitulate and cede the territories demanded by Russia, They make it difficult to foresee what the future of the situation may be and how to definitively untangle it.
