There is a village in Wales where a road full of potholes has become a tourist attraction

Angry at the lack of security, residents of a Gallic village decided to transform a potholed road into a tourist attraction, with several posters promoting “Pothole Land”.

Residents of Pontfadog, a village in Wrexham, north Wales, have turned their frustrations with a badly potholed road into a creative protest, labeling it a tourist attraction called “Pothole Land“, or “Land of Holes”.

The quirky signs, placed along a two-mile stretch of damaged road, humorously advertise “the deepest, longest and widest potholes in Wales” and boast “prize holes with very little real road to spoil your fun.”

The unusual initiative appears to have managed to draw attention to the problem, as local authorities have already started work on repairing the road. However, many holes remain only partially filledleaving locals skeptical about the long-term effectiveness of the repairs.

Donald Roberts, a 76-year-old farmer who relies on the road for his work, shared his frustrations. “We came to this road sign to get some results,” he said. Roberts explained that the poor condition of the road significantly impairs his ability to tend his livestock, as when driving the tractor on the damaged surface he runs the risk of tire blowouts.

Tim Raddock, 57, who lives at the top of the road, described the situation as “extremely bad”, with potholes becoming increasingly deeper due to neglect and adverse weather conditions.

While acknowledging that the municipality has limited funds for road maintenance, Raddock expressed concern that repairs would be insufficient. “Looking at them myself, it seems that they are only half full… it won’t be long before frost and time break them apart again,” he warned.

Despite the frustrations, Raddock praised the community’s creative approach. “It’s great that they’re doing something now,” he tells .

Wrexham County Borough Council declined to comment on the matter, but residents’ inventive protest highlights growing dissatisfaction with road maintenance problems in the area.
