An Italian woman and her husband kidnapped a newborn from a hospital in the southern city of Cosenza on Tuesday evening. The woman pretended to be a nurse. Later in the evening, the police found the kidnappers and safely returned the child to his parentsinforms TASR according to reports from the DPA and ANSA agencies.
The child was in the hospital room with his mother and grandmother. The authorities said that he was subsequently removed from there taken by a woman posing as a nurse to undergo an alleged examination. When the child did not return to the mother, the parents raised the alarm and a search began.
The police blocked all exits from Cosenza and she used recordings from the hospital’s security cameras to identify people. When members of the choir then broke into the kidnappers’ house, they found them celebrating the birth of a child with their family, according to ANSA.
The local media report that the woman pretended to be pregnant for several months and then announced on social networks that she had given birthwrites DPA.
