Eurocidade do Guadiana signed an agreement with the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), the Algarve Tourism Region, and the Municipal Councils of Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António. This agreement aims to intensify cooperation, coordination and promotion of cultural activities in the three cross-border municipalities, with the aim of creating synergies that foster quality musical programs and promote cultural exchange between the Algarve and Andalusian regions.
The agreement initially foresees the carrying out of cultural activities of a musical nature, with emphasis on concerts by orchestras, music bands, accordion and guitar cycles, as well as the appreciation of traditional music and dance from the Algarve and Andalusia. The initiative seeks to promote the cultural values of neighboring territories and strengthen ties between communities.
“The agreement aims to promote cultural activities, initially of a musical nature, in which the cultural values of these neighboring territories are promoted and made known. In this way, concerts with orchestras, music bands, accordion or guitar cycles are planned, as well as the promotion of Algarve and Andalusian music and dance”, explains Eurocidade do Guadiana in a statement.
CCDR Algarve, the entity responsible for cultural promotion in the region, undertakes to organize, together with Eurocidade and the Municipal Councils of Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, “activities on Europe Day, in May, and on European Music Day, in addition to other actions at other times of the year”.
The mayors of Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António also signed the agreement, committing to making municipal spaces available to carry out the activities, which will be programmed by cultural technicians from the respective services.
Culture plays an essential role in tourism enhancement, offering authentic experiences that allow visitors to explore local history and traditions. With this partnership, the aim is to differentiate itself as a cultural destination and retain tourists through a diverse program that enriches the region’s tourist offer.
