According to the Minister of the Civil House, there are deputies and senators who enter politics through “likes” on social media
The Minister of the Civil House, , said this Wednesday (22 January 2025) that Brazil and the world are divided between people who want to work hard, on shifts of up to 17 hours a day, and others who enter politics for “likes” on social media, with the intention of “seal”.
“Brazil today, for some time, and the world too, is divided between people who want to work, work hard, 12, 14, 15, 17 hours to improve people’s lives, to develop their country, to generate employment, to develop industry, to develop agriculture, and other people who enter politics with just a cell phone in their hand with the intention of sealing it, of getting likes, without any commitment”he stated in an interview with the program .
According to Rui Costa, an example would be what happened in the Pix episode. The normative instruction that increased supervision over transfers above R$5,000 from Pix to individuals was overturned after an announcement by the Federal Revenue Secretary, on Wednesday (15.Jan.2025). To the secretary, “unscrupulous people distorted the normative act”.
One of the videos critical of the change in the Tax Authority that became popular on the networks was that of the deputy (PL-MG), surpassing the mark of of views on Instagram.
According to the minister, technological advances encouraged networks to be used as a tool to spread lies, hate, slander people and commit crimes against other human beings.
“Sometimes I get shocked. We are invited to go to Congress and a senator or deputy arrives with their cell phone, asks a question in that sealing style and leaves. He doesn’t even stay to hear the answer, because his objective is not to contribute to the debate, it is not to present a suggestion to improve people’s lives, his objective is to get likes on the social network and, eventually, get re-elected and help destroy public policy”he declared.
For Rui, even news from official vehicles today lacks credibility, which encourages the population’s lack of trust in the information disseminated. According to him, that was why the president (PT) reinforced at the last ministerial meeting that before the government makes any announcement or publication, be it a decree or a normative instruction, the measure must first be explained.
Regarding centralization of government communication, Costa said that it is not possible to create a bureaucratic structure that prevents the government from communicating, since there is a very large volume of normative instructions and ordinances published.
The measure announced at the meeting, according to Costa, was to draw the secretaries’ attention to an alignment of communication so that all information is explained before being published, in order to facilitate the population’s understanding.
