“Advertising and subscription prices will increase”
Netflix exceeded expectations regarding its number of subscribers, when it announced this Tuesday over 19 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, which brings the total to 301.6 million, leading the broadcast industry continuously.
The Californian group presented a year-on-year growth of 16% in its quarterly turnover, to 10.2 billion dollars, and a profit of 1.9 billion.
The quarter in question had a strong incidence of sporting events, from the outset the boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tysonwhich was the most watched event, but also the Christmas-time games of the (North) American professional football league, which had more than 24 million spectators.
Now, the group’s priority will be increasing sales and profits, estimates Ross Benes, an analyst at Emarkerter. “They will look to increase advertising and subscription prices“, he predicted.
For such, the focus is on live broadcasts. “It’s no secret that live programming, with a massive audience, encourages big brands to invest. By 2025, there will be more choices in terms of advertising formats, partnerships and technical options focused on Netflix users,” said Mike Proulx, research director at Forrester.
