Prince Harry’s years-long legal battle against Rupert Murdoch’s British newspaper group took an unexpected turn on Wednesday after the duke settled the case before the trial began.
The proceedings in London’s High Court were due to begin on Tuesday morning, but were repeatedly postponed following requests from lawyers on both sides.
David Sherborne, the Duke’s lawyer, told the court: “I am pleased to announce to the court that the parties have reached an agreement.”
He then read an apology on behalf of the defendant.
