The government of São Paulo is expected to declare a state of emergency for dengue this Thursday (23). The measure must be defined during a meeting between the state governor, Tarcísio de Freitas, with the health secretary, Eleuses Paiva, and all municipal health secretaries, scheduled to take place in the morning. The initiative allows the receipt of additional resources from the federal government, as well as faster implementation of actions.
There is concern, mainly, with type 3 dengue fever. Of the 4 variations of the virus, that is, 4 types of dengue that exist, 3 is the most worrying, as it has the greatest potential to cause serious forms of the disease.
So far, 28 cities in the state already have an active emergency decree. They are: Amparo, Aparecida d’Oeste, Araçatuba, Coroados, Dirce Reis, Estrela d’Oeste, Glicério, Guarani d’Oeste, Igaratá, Indiaporã, Jacareí, Marinópolis, Mendonça, Mira Estrela, Nova Alicança, Ouroeste, Paraibuna, Populina , potirendaba, Ribeira, Rubineia, São Francisco, São José do Rio Preto, São José dos Campos, Suzanopolis, Tambaú, Tanabi and Votuporanga.
Until 12pm this Wednesday (22), according to the Ministry of Health panel, the state of São Paulo had recorded 7 deaths from the disease in 2025. In addition, there were another 76 deaths under investigation and 54 thousand probable cases were registered.
