As sales no Brazilian e-commerce as a whole presented a growth of 13.3% in this summerbut in the categories of products linked to the season there was a drop of 3.6%according to a survey of Neotrust Conf.
Clothing items – such as UV sun protection t-shirts for adults (-45.7%), swimsuits for adults (-30.7%) and swim trunks for adults (-30.4%) -, and inflatable pools (-19. 4%) registered a strong drop compared to the last summer season.
In addition to these, sales of air conditioning units fell 5.5%. However, demand for ventilators increased by 4.2% during the period analyzed.
The survey took into account the periods from December 10, 2023 to January 10, 2024 and the same interval of the following year.
Among the items that grew in sales are also chairs for pools and beaches (84.4%), thermal boxes and coolers (74.1%), inflatable boats (68%), umbrellas (37.8%) and accessories for pools and beaches (36.2%).
According to the research, the explanation for the summer 2025 drops is temperature differences.
“Across the country, in the period 2023/2024 the average high temperature was 29.3 degrees, and in the current period, 2024/2025, it dropped to 27.5. In São Paulo, the temperature in the previous summer was 29.2 degrees, and in the current one, 27.2 degrees”, highlights Neotrust.
“The hotter it is, the greater the chances of consumers going after related products. In São Paulo, the Air and Ventilation category at the beginning of January 2024 recorded average daily revenue on days below 30 degrees of R$3.2 million; with 30 degrees or more, R$18.4 million; and with 35 degrees or more, R$27.4 million.”
