This Tuesday, the Government launched an official account on the social network TikTok as part of “a strategy to modernize government communication”, which aims to “decomplicate complex topics” and combat misinformation.
The new government account, available at , had been announced on the official X account on Sunday morning, through a video with the following message: “Are you ready to find out how the Government really works?”

In a note sent to Lusa, the Prime Minister’s office explains that this new Government channel “aims to reinforce proximity to young peoplepromoting dialogue and transparency through content adapted to digital platforms”.
The account will focus on priority themes such as “youth housing, employment, education and mental health” and “demonstrate how public policies impact everyday life”.
“In addition, it will offer a behind-the-scenes perspective on governance and the decision-making process, demystifying the functioning of public institutions”, according to the same note.
The Government promises that the contents of this account “will be informal and informative, allowing uncomplicate complex topics and promote interest in civic participation.”
On the other hand, the note adds, “the initiative reflects the executive’s commitment to promoting rigorous, transparent and credible communication, using modern tools to combat misinformation and create a more positive digital environment”
“The presence on TikTok also aims to respond to concerns about the effects of social media by offering educational and informational content that empowers young people to identify trusted sources of information and engage constructively in collective challenges,” adds Louis’ office Montenegro.
In addition to TikTok, the XXIV Constitutional Government already had an official account on the social networks Instagram, Facebook, X and Linkedin.
This launch comes two days after the United States of America after the Supreme Court decided to uphold a law passed by Congress that forced the application to separate itself from the parent company, the Chinese ByteDance, or face closure.
