Alzheimer’s disease is a serious neurodegenerative disease that causes the gradual death of cells in the brain. This leads to deterioration of memory, thinking, behavior and the ability to perform daily activities. It is the most common type of dementia, which most often affects older people, although in rare cases it can also appear in younger people. The exact cause of the disease is not fully understood, but experts believe that genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors influence its development.

Symptoms of this disease usually begin with mild memory loss, but gradually worsen to more serious problems such as confusion, speech problems, disorientation, personality changes, and deterioration of bodily functions. Currently, there is no drug that can completely cure the disease, however, some medications and therapies can slow its progression and improve patients’ quality of life.

And now the most interesting thing – new research suggests that the onset of Alzheimer’s disease can be prevented to some extent, thanks to specific professions! According to the website, the study showed that jobs as taxi drivers and ambulance drivers are associated with lower Alzheimer’s mortality compared to other professions. And that has its reasons!

Experts say that working in these professions requires constant processing of spatial and navigational information in real time – for example, planning a driving route or finding the fastest way to get to a hospital. These activities, which actively engage the brain in constant activity, can contribute to its protection and help maintain its health.

Interestingly, a similar trend of lower mortality was not observed in other transport professions that use predetermined routes, such as bus drivers or airplane pilots.
