Former president Jair Bolsonaro’s lawyer told CNN this Tuesday (21) that the trial involving his client “has to be fair”.
“I think that, for the country to turn the page, we need a fair trial,” said Vilardi in an interview with WW. “We need a trial that respects the right of defense, and that means the Supreme Court reviewing all acts of the investigation, from the beginning to the end”, added the lawyer.
Vilardi also questioned the Federal Police’s questioning system.
“I saw, analyzing the records, that the questioning system used by the Federal Police is absolutely unacceptable,” said the criminalist. “The questions are asked as follows: ‘do you confirm this, yes or no?’, binary answers”, he stated.
Crimes attributed to Bolsonaro
The PF indicted Bolsonaro for the following crimes:
- violent abolition of the democratic rule of law
- coup d’état
- criminal organization
The former president had already been indicted for criminal organization in the Saudi jewelry and Covid-19 vaccination card fraud investigations. By coup d’état and violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, this is the first time.
