The new president of the United States, Donald Trumpwill announce this Tuesday an investment of up to 500 billion dollars (about 480,000 million euros) in the private sector so that the country’s large technology companies build a new infrastructure in artificial intelligence (AI). According to sources cited by CBS News, the companies OpenAI, Softbank y Oracle They plan to create a joint company called ‘Stargate‘, which will begin with a data center project in Texas and will later expand to other states.
On his second day in the White House, Trump plans to make this announcement accompanied by the executive directors of the three companies involved in the future alliance: Sam Altman (OpenAI), Masayoshi Son (SoftBank) and Larry Ellison (Oracle). At the moment, no further details of the new partnership are known, but other investors are expected to join the initiative.
In a first phase, these three companies would invest 100 billion dollarsan amount that would rise to 500,000 million dollars of investment in ‘Stargate’ over the next four years. The main objective of this project would be to strengthen the data processing and analysis capabilities in multiple sectors, according to sources close to the negotiation cited by various media.
The strategy would contemplate the construction of data centers of the latest generation and the adoption of machine learning systems for different applications, which would range from healthcare industry until the national defense. Since OpenAI launched ChatGPT In 2022, investment in artificial intelligence has increased and many companies from different sectors have added this technology to their products and services.
According to Bloomberg, the plan would include the creation of new technological jobs and the training of specialists, in order to strengthen US competitiveness in the field of AI.
