Gustavo Pires, president of SPTurisinformed the newspaper that the negotiations seek to sign a 4 to 6 year contract, instead of an annual agreement, expected to be concluded by February or March. Pires stated that the partnership with the NFL can increase the impact of sport in Brazil, in addition to generating jobs and income with each game. The intention is to replicate the model of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ commitment to Wembley Stadium, in London.
“In a long-term contract, we can work together with the NFL to make the sport even bigger in Brazil and increase the generation of jobs and income with each game,” said Gustavo Pires to The Athletic in a written statement.
The match between Eagles and Packers, held in São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena, attracted a large audience and almost 3 million online spectators, generating an economic impact for the city of US$61 million (around R$362 million) and 12,500 jobs , according to SPturis.
In addition to São Paulo, other cities, such as Rio de Janeiro and capitals in the Northeast, are being analyzed as possible venues for NFL games. The NFL has already announced 5 of its international games for the 2025 season, including matches in London, Madrid and Berlin, and maintains Brazil and Ireland as potential locations for future games.
