Councilor Marcelo Messias (), from the base of the mayor of , (MDB), presented this Wednesday (22) a bill that prohibits the motorcycle taxi service until traffic mortality rates in the city reach the targets established by the municipal management.
The project, which uses data provided by the city hall, is part of the reaction of Nunes and allies to the offensive of The companies say they are protected by federal law.

According to Messias’ project, the motorcycle taxi service would only be released when traffic deaths reach a maximum of 4.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, as stated in the city hall’s Target Program. Today, the index is 9.02 per 100 thousand.
The councilor explains that since 2020 “motorcyclist deaths in traffic have followed an alarming growth trend”, rising from 292 in 2020 to an estimated 483 last year.
“This increase reflects not only the growth of the motorcycle fleet in the city, which registered a 35% jump in the last 10 years, but also the greater exposure of motorcyclists to dangerous traffic conditions and the lack of adequate infrastructure”, says the parliamentarian .
