Do you have these 3 things at home? They are no longer vintage, many say they are outdated

Some interior design elements are timeless, others are better left in the past. Just as most of us do not despise ceramics or silver cutlery, specific carpets from several decades ago may already raise controversy. Talker Research, commissioned by Realty ONE Group, recently conducted a study that was intended to dispel doubts about vintage items and old items that are better to get rid of.

In the mentioned study 83 percent participants agreed that it is difficult to classify classic and outdated things because there is often a thin line between them. However, they also indicated two things that, according to them, will never go out of fashion: original wooden floors and all furniture and carpentry elements made of this material. There is no need to argue with this decision, because wood is a material that has been extremely popular for years. A wooden floor (in good condition) made several dozen years ago still looks great. We can call this vintage. These types of elements are certainly worth investing in.

The study included members of the baby boomer generation, Generation Z, Millennials and Generation X. These people agreed on three things that are very outdated and do not look good in homes, and they are:

  • popcorn ceilings,
  • garden cellars/dugouts,
  • telephone corners.

Of course, these are only suggestions. Garden basement is very difficult to get rid of, and it is also useful, so it is not worth removing it if it is in use. The situation is different with other elements, these can be transformed into something fashionable at a relatively low cost. Popcorn ceilings in particular are considered outdated. What about a phone corner in an old house? Nowadays, landline phones are rarely used, so it is worth changing such a niche into something more useful, e.g. arranging space for plants.
