Laïa Dabri is curious. Out of the question for her to limit herself to only one type of television show. From Touche pas to my post at Les Marseillais or at Journal Télévisé, there is only one step that she never hesitates to take. Embark on his universe where even series of all kinds have their place.
There’s a first for everything and this year it’s happening. As announced on January 22, 2025, one of the countries announced its withdrawal from the next edition of Eurovision which will take place in Switzerland. The reasons for this decision have been revealed.
In 20 years, this has never happened! Country withdraws from Eurovision 2025 and explains why
Big change on the Eurovision side this year. While it has participated in the famous musical competition since 2005, Moldova will not compete for the 2025 edition which will be held from May 13 to 17, in Switzerland. The reason for this withdrawal has been revealed.
Moldova will not participate in Eurovision 2025
On May 13, 15 and 17, 2025, the 69th edition of Eurovision will take place at the Saint-Jacques Hall in Basel, Switzerland. Following the 2024 edition, with his song The Codenew participants will try to win the title of big winner. But the public will have to do without Moldova this year.
In fact, not 38 but 37 countries will ultimately be in the running. On January 22, 2025, Moldovan public television announced the country’s withdrawal from Eurovision. A surprise since the representative selection process began on January 18. There were 26 but only 12 participants could reach the national final. A moment which was to be broadcast on February 22, on the Moldova 1 channel.
The reasons revealed
But on Wednesday, the audiovisual group announced that everything was canceled and that Moldova would not participate in the competition for reasons of “economic, administrative and artistic challenges”, it was specified in a press release. “We consulted music experts and most of them expressed serious reservations about Moldova’s participation this year“, Corneliu Durnescu, director of Moldova 1 channel, said at a press conference.
For her part, Daniela Crudu, head of the Moldovan delegation to Eurovision, admitted that the musical proposals were not up to par this year: “This year has highlighted some challenges, including a decline in audience interest and the overall quality of titles and performances. This has generated a negative perception for both music scholars and the public, underscoring the need for substantial reform of the selection process.“This is a big page that is turning since Moldova has been competing in the Eurovision song contest since 2005.
