Independência holds off pressure from Águia and loses place on penalties

Independência drew 1-1 with Águia at Zinho Oliveira, in Marabá, Pará, this Wednesday, 22, and ended up losing on penalties 4-2. The result eliminated the Acre team from the 2025 Copa Verde. Jonata Bastos scored Águia’s goal and Eduardo equalized for Tricolor.

On penalties

Independência went into halftime with the game tied 1-1 and in the second half held off the pressure from Águia. In penalties, goalkeeper Axel Lopes shone, defending penalties from Bê and Acará.

Duel against Manaus

Águia will have Manaus as their opponent in the next phase of the Copa Verde. The clash will be played in the capital of Amazonas and the date will still be defined by the CBF.

Independence returns

The Independência squad returns this Thursday, 23rd, to the capital of Acre. Tricolor’s next commitment will be a duel against Vasco in the debut of the State Championship. The match will be played on Monday, 27th, at 6 pm, at Arena da Floresta.
