Czech actress Jiřina Bohdalová (93) she has been suffering from health problems since last year, due to which she had to visit the hospital repeatedly. In the end, they took both tumors,” Neužil explained, adding that they also had to pay attention to the vocal cords.
“After that it was critical to get her off the ventilator and especially get her off artificial sleep. It wasn’t right after the operation, but the next day she was off ventilation. It was actually done within 24 hours of the procedure,” said the attending physician to Bohdala.
Neužila was surprised by the relatively quick progress tumors that reached below the sternum. They were starting to cause breathing problems and it would not be possible without surgery. He described for the Czech media that the acting legend had her last CT scan in April 2024, on which she had a small finding. However, it took a rapid turn in half a year, which scared the doctor.
“That goiter must have started to absorb water, suddenly it was big! It was so big that it required a thoracic surgeon to assist and an ENT specialist. Therefore, Robert Lischke was there and the main person in the hall was Ján Plzák. She was in danger of having reinforcements put into that tube and losing her vocal cords.” stated Neužil.
Now the actress is recovering so that she can return home soon. “The relief was immediate. We are currently taking Jiřinka to our home in Homolka, where we will keep her for a while,” concluded her close friend and well-known Czech cardiologist.
