Admiral Gouveia e Melo is receiving strong criticism after canceling his presence at a debate dinner. They accuse him of “lack of respect and speech”. “My name is not for selling tickets”, he replies.
This dinner debate is being organized by the “Pensar em Alcochete” movement, dedicated to the theme “Anti-Democratic Virus“, and is scheduled for this Friday, January 24th.
The event organizer, Zeferino Boalformer CDS mayor in Alcochete and member of the movement, criticizes Almirante for having canceled his presence at the event at the last minute, as he claims.
“Demonstrates lack of respect for everyone“, “lack of word of honor and commitment”, which makes him “unworthy of occupying state functions“, points out Boal in a publication attributed to him on the page of the “Pensar em Alcochete” movement.
“I have dignity and shame for the attitude of a person without character and honorwho is a user of these acts, is not worthy of anyone’s respect”, adds the former mayor.
assures (CM) that he announced that he would not be present at the dinner with “seven days in advance”.
The Admiral justifies that the invitation he had received was “for a small private gathering” and that, “suddenly, it was already transformed into a big event”. “I already had a report from channel one secured”, he adds, quoted by the CM.
“My name is not for selling tickets”concludes Gouveia e Melo.
Former mayor accuses Gouveia e Melo of lying
Zeferino Boal has already responded in another Facebook post, on the “Pensar em Alcochete” movement page, where he says that Gouveia e Melo “mind”.
“He was invited to a dinner that has a history of seven years and the nature of the event was explained, to which he had already been invited in December 2021 and fifteen days before also canceled because I was going to take office”, Boal begins by noting in the publication.
“This time, we were informed 48 hours ago” of the event, he adds, noting that the initiative implies that “people they pay for dinner and not a ticket to watch a circus show.”
“It is not a personality that will spoil our purposes of free citizenship”, he also says, highlighting that the dinner will be maintained, but expressing the intention of return the money already paid to anyone who does not wish to attend, given the Admiral’s absence.
“We are neither dazzled nor frightened by media “flash” and those who are not prepared to combat that stay forever submerged“, concludes Zeferino Boal.
